BUG: Account stuck on "Awaiting Benefits" / "Outstanding discount request" for 5 months

Hi everyone,

Hi GitHub Community and Support Team,

I am experiencing a glitch with my GitHub Education account. I was successfully verified as a student back in December 2025 (Approved), but my status has been permanently stuck on "Awaiting Benefits" for the last 5 months.

When I try to check my status, I get this error message:
"Discount request could not be created... You have an outstanding discount request for @imamrokhim911."

I understand that new Copilot Student activations are currently paused globally (as per the announcement banner). However, I cannot access the other standard benefits of the Student Developer Pack because my entire profile seems to be caught in a loop.

Could an admin please perform a manual sync or clear the stuck "outstanding request" on my account so I can at least access the other non-Copilot benefits?

Here’s what you can try:

1. Go to https://education.github.com/discount_requests
   — check if you can manually cancel the existing pending request.

2. If there’s no cancel option, wait 24–48 hours (sometimes the system clears stuck requests automatically).

3. If still stuck, contact GitHub Education Support directly here:
   https://support.github.com/contact/education
   — Select “Student Developer Pack” → “I have an issue with my verification or discount”

4. In your support request, include:

   • Your GitHub username: @imamrokhim911
   • The exact error message from your screenshot
   • That it has been stuck for 5 months

GitHub staff can manually clear the old discount request from their backend. You won’t be able to fix this from your account alone.

The link https://education.github.com/document_requests is for schools/campuses applying for GitHub Enterprise (for an entire institution), not for individual Student Developer Pack benefits.

The error you’re seeing:

“An application must have at least one organization to apply for benefits. Please try again.”

…means exactly what it says — you cannot fill out that form unless you first create a GitHub Organization for your school and verify ownership of it

What you should actually do (since you want individual student benefits)

You said earlier your account was stuck on “Awaiting Benefits / Outstanding discount request” for 5 months.

That issue is not solved by this document_requests form. Instead:

✅ Correct path for individual student benefits:

1. Go here instead:
   https://education.github.com/discount_requests

2. If you see a pending/stuck request, try to cancel it if possible.

3. If you can’t cancel or re-apply, contact GitHub Education Support:
   https://support.github.com/contact/education
   → Choose “Student Developer Pack” → “Verification issues”

4. Tell them:

   • Your username: @imamrokhim911
   • Error: “Outstanding discount request… We will get back to you soon” (stuck for 5 months)
   • That the document_requests form is not what you need

“is it true? or my account was cancelled?”

• The form is real, but it’s for school-wide GitHub Enterprise, not for you personally.
• Your account is not cancelled — it’s just stuck in a verification loop.
• Do not use that form for your individual student benefits. It will continue to fail because you don’t have a verified school organization attached.
